Cronache di Borgo Frymare

Mail Club

I used to design buildings. Now I’m designing the postal system of a magical village.

Every month, a new Chronicle sets off from Frymare and arrives in your letterbox. The Mail Club is a subscription to a story that unfolds over the course of the year. Each envelope holds a new tale, a letter from Morea and illustrations to keep. I draw, print, fold and prepare each mailing by hand, sending a little piece of that world into yours. Stories to open, read and return to.

Subscription

A story that arrives one month at a time, straight into your letterbox.

Each issue of Chronicles of Borgo Frymare brings you another glimpse of village life: a personal letter from Morea, a Chronicle from the Tabulario and an illustration to keep.

Your subscription renews automatically each month. You can cancel at any time to stop future renewals.

What is Borgo Frymare?

Hidden inside a mountain, in a valley carved long ago by a falling star, lies Borgo Frymare. Here, the wind carries voices from our world. Suspended mills collect them, and artisans turn them into magic. Among inks that come to life, workshops and village festivities, the Chronicles follow Morea, the ink witch, and her fellow villagers through the seasons. Stories and glimpses of everyday life for adults and children to discover, one month at a time.

Fortesa Softa

Hello, I’m a Swiss architect and illustrator, a mother of two girls, and the creator of a village called Frymare.

This project brings together much of who I am: drawing, the care I put into making things by hand, and the desire to tell stories. Motherhood has shaped it too, through the changes it has brought and the different way I now see the world around me.

Watching my daughter’s excitement when something arrives for her in the post reminded me how lovely it is to find an envelope addressed just to you. To open it, discover what’s inside, and hold a story in your hands.

That’s what I’d like to share through Chronicles of Borgo Frymare. Every month, a little more of the village arrives by post, in stories and illustrations. We meet the people who live there, visit their homes and follow the seasons together.

Frymare takes its name from the Albanian expression fryma e re, a new breath.
